The New Year often brings thoughts of resolutions and renewal. This desire to redo might extend to the home. The library is the perfect place to find ideas, techniques and tips for any kind of home project.

The Goshen Public Library receives a particularly large selection of magazine subscriptions on this topic. Relative to interior and exterior home design we receive:

For the handy person or for making something for that home we receive:

For the collector there's Antiques and the Smithsonian.

Thomas Conran is a noted authority on room design while Laura Ashley is a mainstay for decorating and detail work. We have titles from both. Also worth noting are two beautiful books, Cottage Style and American Bungalow Style as well as numerous titles in the still popular Country or Victorian styles. There are titles for specific areas of the house like bathrooms, family rooms, and bedrooms. And of course we have a number of titles by or about Martha Stewart.

For good choices in book format, your best bet is to simply browse the shelves. The target sections are: 690's for building projects and the practical aspects, 720's for building style and home plans, and 747 for decorating tips. Another area of interest is 745 where books on various crafts can be found, many of which describe projects and crafts which could be made for the home

All this is but a taste of the wealth of materials we have in this area and scattered throughout the collection. For specifics, come to the reference desk, where, as always, we are happy to help you find the perfect book or books to help you jumpstart your own creativity.
