Children's Services at Goshen Public Library Children's Librarian: Katherine LaRocca

GENERAL PROGRAM INFORMATION A varied selection of programs for children ages 18 months through grade 6 are offered throughout the year and are a supplement to a child's regular visits to the library to borrow books. Programs are open to card holders of the Goshen Public Library & Historical Society Children must be the appropriate age for the program. Registration is required for all programs since size is limited by space consideration. A lottery system is used for preschool programs. Flyers with specific dates and times are available in September for Fall and holiday programs, in January for Winter programs, in April for spring programs and in June for Summer programs.

Special Programs

• Guest entertainers, such as magicians and storytellers, are sometimes invited to the library.

• Visits can be arranged for community groups such as day care, Nursery School, Scout Troops, Headstart, school classes and other agencies that serve children.

• Our chldren's librarian is also available for visits outside the library.

• Ask at the front desk or call 294-6606 for further information about these programs.

Big Books, Beginning Readers, Easy Readers, Board Books, Picture Books, Fiction, Nonfiction, Reference/CD-ROM, Paperback Fiction, Book and Cassette Kits, Books on Tape, Video Tapes, Magazines

• Children are eligible for a library card once they can print their full name. Their parent/guardian is responsible for monitoring their use of library materials.

• Updated information regarding all of our children's programs and services is provided in the Independent Republican newspaper.

• All programs are free; a nominal materials fee may be assessed for craft programs.

Registration Policies In person at the Goshen Public Library for Pre-School programs; by phone (294-6962) for School-age programs. One adult per family unit. A parent's valid Goshen Library card must be presented at registration. Programs are open to residents of the Goshen Central School District, or fee-paying patrons from untaxed areas. Children must be of specified age by first sessions of program. Space remaining after first day registration may be filled by out-of- district children attending Goshen schools. This applies to school age programs only.
