Preschool registration is being conducted as a walk-in lottery system starting Tuesday, January 25, Wednesday, January 26, and ending Thursday, January 27. A valid Goshen library card must be shown at time of registration. If you do not yet have a card, bring two proofs of address to apply. School-age programs will register by phone on dates indicated in the flyer and in the Winter newsletter. Programs are available for children 18 months to grade 12, so be sure to stop in for more information. While programs are a very important and popular aspect of children's services at our library, we also work to fill other equally vital needs. Wintertime points out one of the most challenging of those services-reference information for the many school reports and projects which will be due during the winter onths. We try very hard to keep our collections timely and relevant for the type of requests made by our young patrons. Besides myself and our Teen Coordinator, Donna Cifarelli, we now have three very knowledgeable reference librarians, Anita Whitehead, Fran O'Gorman, and Katie DuBois to help children and parents navigate the perils of science projects, animal reports, and any other other curriculum needs. We look forward to showing you and your child our many resources, including our Internet workstations to acess the most current information available. Remember, our new computer policy requires parents to give signed permission for children under 18 to "surf the web." We will also be conducting a Find It @ the Library scavenger hunt for grades 3 - 6, which will focus on the many information sources available to students. This fun and factual program will take place on Friday, Feb. 18, 9 - 10:30 am (schools are closed for President's Weekend). Learning to use the public library can be your child's "key to the future"; let us help unlock that door.
